Our Mission
At Wild Acres Horse Rescue, we strive to help every horse we can. We know we can't save every horse, but for the ones we do save, their lives are completely changed. We believe that every horse, no matter its past, deserves respect, kindness, and love. Every horse deserves a chance and we are that chance for many horses who have no hope.
Our horses are rescued from the slaughter pipeline whenever funds allow, as well as through generous surrenders. Once they come home to us, each horse receives dedicated rehabilitation and care. Through our adoption process, we find them loving, forever homes where they can thrive.

Summertime with Equines
The horses at Wild Acres Horse Rescue are always in need. Regardless of the season or weather, we put these beautiful creatures first. There are many things your donation contributes to. Everyday we provide what is best for each individual horse in our care. Some of those everyday essentials include horse feed, stall shavings, fly spray, supplements, healthcare for various conditions, farriers, and dental care.

We here at Wild Acres Horse Rescue understand that circumstances will sometimes make it where an owner can no longer keep their horse. Whether it be from life changes or illness. There are not many options for horse owners. Also, many owners are afraid that they will not be able to ensure their horse finds the right home. We strive to accept a horse that is in need, healthy or unhealthy or their age. No personal questions are asked. There is no fee to surrender your horse, however, donations are always appreciated. We do understand if you are unable to do so.

Volunteers are an essential part of our rescue. Without you, we wouldn't be able to operate to our full capacity.
WAHR offers training for any job that a volunteer may want to do. We want you to feel comfortable while performing duties to the best of your ability. Safety, of course, always comes first. Jobs available may include mucking stalls and fields, handling a horse, grooming, riding, training, assessment, hoof care, feeding, office, social media, etc. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at WAHR, please contact us. |

Wild Acres Horse Rescue was born from the heart of our founder, Michelle, whose love for horses began at just 8 years old, when she got her first pony. That pony sparked a lifelong bond with horses and planted the seed for something much bigger. Through her years in 4-H, Michelle learned not just how to care for animals—but how to lead with compassion, responsibility, and heart. As she grew older, she began to see how many horses were neglected, surrendered, or simply forgotten. Her dream was clear: to create a safe haven where every horse could be given a second chance. That dream became Wild Acres Horse Rescue—a place where healing happens daily, where horses are met with patience and love, and where people, too, find purpose in caring for them. Michelle’s heart is at the core of everything we do, and her compassion continues to inspire a community built on hope, healing, and second chances.
