Horses in the slaughter pipeline endure many tragedies. They are overcrowded, mentally and physically abused. Horses experience anxiety, depression, fear, sadness and illnesses run rampant. Many horses are sent to auction by unsuspecting sellers thinking that their horse will go to a good home. This may not always be the case. At auctions where meat buyers are known to be present, more than likely your horse may end up in this slaughter pipeline. They are shipped in overcrowded trailers without food or water to Canada and Mexico. Slaughter is not known to be kind to the horse. They do not get euthanized and stunning tactics do not usually work on a horse.
At Wild Acres Horse Rescue we strive to pull horses from the slaughter pipeline, however, we do need your help to do this. Without YOU, we would not be able to help the horses we do.
Instead of sending your horse to an auction, consider surrendering your companion to a rescue. Donations are needed to help these horses as well. They may have been surrendered due to an illness or death of the owner, economic reasons, etc.
In either case, horses deserve a second chance. At Wild Acres Horse Rescue we offer that chance to horses in need. As we operate solely by donations which may cover the fee to pull from the slaughter pipeline, veterinarian fees, dental fees, hoof care, feed, hay, medicines, supplements, shelter, bedding, treats, etc.: we need your help.
